Sanctimonius – “Child of insanity” EP
Sanctimonius – “Child of insanity” EP [2010]
The band consisting of Gregory ( all instruments&vocals) and Alexander(lyrics) started out their journey in 2007 as an atmospheric / neoclassical project. Due to the use of various classical and ethnic instruments the music was back then calm and mystical, but unfortunately the band stopped their work after the release of their third track Jerusalem 1187 AD.
Later on, Gregory’s previous experience in the black metal band Soul Scream was put into the revival of Sanctimonius which also meant taking a new approach on the music. As a result, the style of the band became more elaborate, having a touch of extreme metal, but however, the old melancholic keyboard rhythm was kept.
The efforts of creating songs for an EP began in the winter of 2010 when the band’s first demo song, Child of Insanity, was released; it was soon followed by Humility, Remembrance and Consonance.
In summer, the band’s work paid off and a final product was brought to the public: the EP Child of Insanity came out on 9th July under the label Dead House R.E.C.O.R.D.S and despite the so-called switch to a combination between black metal and atmospheric music, the sound was still majorly ethereal, the deep vocals contributed as well to the monotonous line. Nevertheless, the abundant melancholy and solitude in the sound doesn’t make it a bad material and it is very suitable for rainy days, both sloppy or sad moments or just chilling out.
To put it briefly, as it can be deduced from the previously mentioned, Child of Insanity is not an energizing material, but it is a fine proof of ambiental music so I recommend you listen to it.
