Katatonia – Viva Emptiness

posted by admin on June 19, 2013

Katatonia have been revealed as very special guests on Paradise Lost’s Tragic Illusion 25th anniversary UK tour in October alongside Lacuna Coil. Since they are also celebrating their own 10th anniversary for their standout sixth album Viva Emptiness, the band will be performing the album in its entirety each night. To coincide with the shows and the album’s 10-year anniversary, Viva Emptiness will be entirely re-mixed and re-mastered by David Castillo plus enhanced with new artwork courtesy of Travis Smith for a re-release on November 4th via Peaceville. The album will be available for pre-order from September 23rd.

Viva Emptiness was originally released in 2003 and is regarded by many as a classic and one of the best albums of the band. So, this will be a great opportunity to see the band play the whole album live if you are really a fanboy/girl.

Guitarist and founding member Anders Nyström comments: “Sometimes after an album has been out for a while I always get the question if there’s something we would have wanted to change or done differently and 99% of the time I say ‘no’ because we have happily moved on! But, there’s been one particular album that would in fact echo with a loud ‘YES’ to that question. Dear friends, that would be the album you know as Viva Emptiness…”

“This year, time is approaching Viva Emptiness with a 10-year anniversary, so is there really something to celebrate? Oh yes indeed! Our long lost mission objective will finally be completed! The album may now take that climb, in terms of audio quality, to be right up there proudly positioned beside it’s younger ‘album brethren’ – The Great Cold Distance, Night Is The New Day and finally Dead End Kings. We will give Viva Emptiness the sound and production the songs always deserved by having our long time studio rat and collaborator David Castillo work his magic at his Ghost Ward studio. Secondly, another long time collaborator of ours, namely Travis Smith, will give the artwork an enhanced continuation of the original theme that will keep the visual aesthetes at bay! And last but not least, the crowning of the celebration: We will take Viva Emptiness with us on the road and play the album live in it’s entirety while performing as ‘very special guests’ to our ‘tragic idols’ in Paradise Lost, celebrating their own 25th anniversary tour this fall. Viva Viva Emptiness Fulfilled!”

In other news, as you probably know by now, Katatonia recently announced a Pledge campaign for Dethroned & Uncrowned, the new version of the Dead End Kings album reworked, stripped down in a semi-acoustic way. The goal of the campaign has already been reached but fans can still get perks.

The band posted this message for their fans: “Thank you, our dear ‘Katatoniacs’, for making sure this Pledge campaign broke 100% and reaching our goal (and we’re impressed how fast you did that!). This means the Dethroned & Uncrowned album and subsequent touring will become our and your reality!

A lot of you have asked if the Pledge campaign will remain open and yes, it will! Just because we’ve reached 100% doesn’t mean that the items (that are still available) go away, it just made the goal of the project come true! The Pledge campaign will keep going until it’s release which you can see indicated beside the % bar. Just remember it’s a first come first served basis, so the count below the prices in the right column indicates what’s still left. So thank you again for all the pledges, you rule!”

Chalice of Doom – Teaser track

posted by admin on May 16, 2013

Jordanian Doom/Death metallers CHALICE OF DOOM have posted a teaser track titled “Shaheed“, taken from their upcoming album “Into Hypnagogia”. As the band previously commented at their Facebook Page, the track (musically and lyrically) is dedicated for all whom lost their spirits searching for freedom and peace in the Middle East.

The album features a bunch of well known guest musicians such as the Swedish vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Roger “Rogga” Johansson (THE 11TH HOUR, PAGANIZER, RIBSPREADER, ex-EDGE OF SANITY…), the vocalists Marius Strand (THE FALL OF EVERY SEASON), Christina Kroustali (DIE VERBANNTEN KINDER EVAS) and Giampaul Andrianopoulos (LONESOME OCTOBER, ex-EARTHEN). The band also features the Russian keyboardist Maria Zvyagina as session musician in the album.

Line-up:

Fares Swedan – Harsh Vocals

Azmo Lozmodial – Clean Vocals , Keyboards

Ahmad Seffo – Lead Guitars and Bass

Tariq Khasawneh – Rhythm Guitars

Muhammad Jaber – Drums

Lyrics:

From the womb of war

The childhood bleeds

Guns and stones against reality

Life cut the umbilical cord…

We want to breath freedom

From the womb of war

We dig our way

And peel the darkness of the years

Life cut the umbilical cord…

We want to breath justice

Six decades of inhuman torment

Genocides consumed our eyes

Will the children forgive the fathers

For everything they did and said?

Six decades of killing dreams

Homeless and nameless

Will the children forgive the fathers

Everytime they leave us to die?

Mourners Lament sign with Rain Without End

posted by admin on April 30, 2013

Rain Without End Records is extremely happy to welcome Chilean doomsters Mourners Lament to our doom metal family.

Mourners Lament play a dark and crushing brand of death/doom full of depressive melodies and atmospheres. The band was born in 2004 in Chile with the idea of creating a heavy mixture of depressive and oppressive music based on the older British trinity as well as other classic and modern influences.

To date Mourners Lament has released a demo in 2004 and an Ep in 2008 titled “Unbroken Solemnity” which was originally released through Descent Productions of the Netherlands. Between 2008 and 2009 the band welcomed members from Poema Arcanus, Mar de Grises and Procession to the line-up and began playing live shows. Sadly in 2009 the band put things on hold and remained relatively silent until now.

Mourners Lament is now back after almost 4 years of silence and now pushes forward with renewed energy. The guys have returned to their original line-up and are currently working on a brand new full length to be released through Rain Without End Records sometime in 2014.

From the Band:

“Is very important for us to announce that the record label “Rain Without End Records” is our new home!!… (where we will realize our upcoming album). We want to say thanks to James and Robert for trust in our work and a very special thanks to our good friend Juan Escobar ( AstorVoltaires ) for his unconditional support. More news…very soon!”

Current Line-up

Autism, Lithuanian Post-Rock

posted by admin on April 18, 2013

After releasing a digital debut EP “Falling Motion”, which got quite positive reactions from post rock fans all over the globe, AUTISM has released a brand new album “The Crawling Chaos”. This release contains 6 tracks, which came out sounding much heavier then our previous works, but the melodic guitars and the atmosphere is still the same.

That’s, what the man behind AUTISM project had to say about the new album :

“When I started writing new material for this album, I decided that this time, I want to hear some vocals. Making instrumental music was not enough, so after some interesting experiments I decided to introduce a story-teller, who reads fragments from H.P. Lovecraft “The Crawling Chaos” book. This spoken-vocal idea was haunting me since when I heard THE DOORS “An American Prayer” for the first time. Later I came across ENABLERS “End Note” album, which made me sympathize for that kind of vocal even more. So I think introducing spoken vocals into my new album added some darker, more mystical atmosphere. Also, this release came out being a little heavier then our debut. Its hard to say why that happened, maybe I was never a big fan of traditional post rock, or maybe it just came out naturally while experimenting and trying to find the distinctive sound for this project.”
Also AUTISM presents you with their first official music video for the title track “The Crawling Chaos”.

The album is available for free download on their bandcamp page : http://autism.bandcamp.com

My Dying Bride – New EP

posted by admin on March 28, 2013

U.K. doom metal veterans MY DYING BRIDE will release a new EP, “The Manuscript”, on May 13 via Peaceville Records on CD and vinyl.

“The Manuscript” contains four new and exclusive songs; a dark voyage spanning over 27 minutes of supreme doom in the unmistakable MY DYING BRIDE style of heaviness mixed with dark tales of foreboding. It was recorded and mixed at Futureworks Studios in Manchester, U.K. with the band’s long-time producer, Rob “Mags” Magoolagan.

Comments the band: “‘The Manuscript’ features four monstrous tracks of brilliantly crafted metal that only MY DYING BRIDE can do, with swathes of doom laden melancholy, harmonic beauty and thundering death metal all combined in their trademark sound. Four tales of tragedy, loss and bitter vengeance greet the listener with an added assault on the emotions too, leaving the soul grey and limp. There is beauty here, but it’s carrying a dark blade.”

In a recent interview with Metal Forces, MY DYING BRIDE vocalist Aaron Stainthorpe stated about the songs that will appear on “The Manuscript”: “They’re very similar to ‘A Map Of All Our Failures’, because they were written and recorded at the same time, except for one song. That really stands out… [laughs] It’s full-on sort of epic death metal; it’s swords and axes, a proper warrior battle kind of track that’s almost medieval in flavor. You can almost picture the scene; it’s set in a snowy kind of mountainous landscape. There are sound effects and all sorts of mayhem going on in it, and death metal vocals not quite all the way through it, but near enough. It even has a Swedish title which because my Swedish isn’t great, I’m not gonna repeat here. [laughs] I need to get the pronunciation right before I do that.”

MY DYING BRIDE’s latest album, “A Map Of All Our Failures”, was released on October 15, 2012 in Europe and October 16, 2012 in the U.S. via Peaceville Records on CD, double vinyl and special-edition CD+DVD.

Bethlehem sign again with Prophecy Prod

posted by admin on March 7, 2013

Bethlehem are legend. With their album “Dark Metal,” this band (founded in 1991) established the musical subgenre of the same name, and with their records “Dictius Te Necare” and “S.U.i.Z.i.D.,” they are the founding fathers of Suicidal/Depressive Black Metal. More than ten years ago, they already cooperated with Prophecy to release their EP “Profane Fetmilch lenzt elf krank” (1999) as well as the album “Schatten aus der Alexander Welt” (2001). The group around Jürgen Bartsch now returns with a new contract into the fold of the label – an act of faith the Prophecy team is extraordinarily thrilled about.

The first mutual project of this newly forged alliance will be the release of Bethlehem’s seventh studio album. The as yet untitled work will be recorded in August/September of 2013 in Klangschmiede Studio E under the aegis of Markus Stock: the first of four albums covered by the contract.

Jürgen Bartsch has this to say about the renewed contract formation: “Our choice of label is based on knowing the person mainly responsible for it for many years – a foundation of trust not to be undervalued these days. As a plus, you are experiencing an artistic freedom with Prophecy Productions that has no rival – they are backing you 100%, and they are serious about it. We are absolutely convinced that this cooperation on an equal footing is going to produce many strange blossoms, as Prophecy vs. Bethlehem are just like chalk and cheese together.”
